Morion’s Travel Diaries| The Less Visited Lumondo Falls

I have discovered a priceless treasure in Barangay Budlingin, Alegria, Surigao del Norte - the less visited Lumondo Falls.  The waterfall  which is about 10 meter-radius from the actual water drop or 20 feet up the rift of the river is justifiable to be called as “environmentally-raw”. Less visited, its natural beauty is  preserved and close to untouched.

What to See

Cascade of small lagoons with crystal-clear waters embedded on huge rocks is an opening salvo as one approaches the location of the waterfall. Huge Rocks’ formations are naturally set-up and engineered.  The waterfall is literally photogenic and majestic. The place is a rich "flora and fauna environment".  Reptiles like "bebang",  different species of birds, rich vegetation of  ornamental and non-ornamental plants are common sightings in the area. According to the locals, flying Lemurs are also seen visiting the river close to the waterfalls.

Getting there is as easy as 1-2-3! The falls is approximately 2.5 kilometres away from the national highway of Alegria. From Eskina (crossroad) Don Julio take a habal habal (motorcycle for hire with flat timber wings) up to the Tourist Information Center towering the nearby location of the actual water drop. Expect the more or less 10 minutes motorcycle ride to be rocky since the road going to Barangay  Budlingin is rough or not yet fully paved . From the tourist Information Center be prepared to 154 steps trail going down to the location of the majestic falls.  Bring foods and water- there are no stores or any food stalls near to the location of the waterfalls.

I forgot to charge my camera and bring extra batteries during this trip but thanks to Yong Sumile for being “BS” Boy Scout – for bringing his P and S Olympus Camera.

Plan your trip to Surigao del Norte now and don’t forget to include Lumondo Falls in your itinerary.

  8. Ang dami talagang natatagong magagandang place dito sa pinas. Tulad ng falls na ito. Sana lang pangalagaan nila ng maayos kung i propromote bilang isa sa mga tourist spots sa Caraga. :)

  15. I just hope the LGU will do something about it starting with paving the way going to the falls as this is the main source of difficulty of going to the falls - its rocky, hilly and involves long walk from the starting point. I think this is the main reason why there are less visitors are to the falls and only few Surigaonons are aware of it. This falls has a potential so I hope the local government will do something about it.
