Morion's PhotoGallery 101| Butanding of Oslob, Cebu

FEATURED Photograph|
Photo shows a weak "Butanding" (endangered large type of whale) found along the coastal area of Oslob, Cebu, immediately died after  hours of rescue.
Sightings of  (group of) melon-headed dolphins and whale sharks are common in  Oslob and other neighboring towns. South Cebu's clear and blue sea serves as playing ground and suitable habitat of these endangered  species.

  4. Kawawa naman :( I'm going there next week to swim with them. I hope maayos ang mga patakaran nila to take care of these whale sharks.

  6. phew! that's a better news. i thought this was a recent picture..

yeah there should be strict implementation of rules and offenders be penalized, no exemption.

my sister even told me that a family member of her friend hugged the butanding while they were swimming with it in Oslob.. I was outraged with that news. They were apprehended by the fishermen but is that even enough? The "harm" has been done.

    tsk3..

  8. rue sir ed, agree aleah! actually i was assigned in south cebu (NGO- monitoring) for more than 2 years, and been to oslob many times... year 2009 pagdating q dolphin and whale shark are said na common seen na sa area, lalo na dun sa part na malapit sa Sumilon Island(Tan-awan and Mainit)...
other point...as i remembered 400 pesos dti na bayad sa bangka ok na( no time limit) pero ngaun nga na patok na dami q nababasa na per hour n rate,,,
I am not against dis since tourism to pero sana magkaron nga ng rules/limits para indi nman maabuso at indi maharm ang mga endangered species n to' ,,,
